Splendour on the Côte d'Azur – With two master
suites, two guest rooms, four en-suite bath/shower rooms, five separate terrace
areas, a 1,780m2 garden, swimming pool and wonderful Côte d'Azur sea
views, Villa La Lavande is luxury, spaciousness and elegant French
Riviera living redefined.
This beautifully-situated and fully-renovated, south-facing villa, less than ten minutes from the lovely "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" (town of art and history) of Grasse - famed as the perfume capital of the world - is only half-an-hour from both Cannes and Antibes, and just a mere hour from Italy. Although a part of the exciting and vibrant Côte d'Azur, it is said Villa La Lavande feels like it’s a part of Périgord.
The villa, set on a quiet no through road, is accessed through an ancient olive grove with absolutely no noise. Beautifully designed over two floors, the villa maximises living space (245m² - almost 2700ft² - of habitable floor space) without compromising either luxury or comfort. Villa La Lavande offers plenty of interior living space for eight persons, whether for a group or family. And with stone floors throughout, the villa remains cool and comfortable throughout the summer.
The four luxuriously-appointed en-suite bedrooms (two double suites, two guest rooms) are supplemented by an upstairs living area that seats six and features a dining area for all eight villa guests.
The downstairs living area seats five, and the 55” plasma TV, with both Sky and Freeview, supplemented by the homely log wood burner, provides the perfect setting should you wish to enjoy doing plenty of nothing for a few hours. And quiet room fans quietly take care of the day’s residual warm during the summer, while central heating is available should a chill set in either early or late in the year. However, there’s also an abundance of private outdoor space for all to enjoy. There are five separate terrace areas that lead out onto the lovely 1,780m2 Mediterranean-style garden (to give you an idea of the size, the garden contains three lawned areas and 27 ancient olive trees on the property). This is complemented by a vast 28 m2 "auto-covered" terrace with delightful outside eating areas overlooking the pool that also provides a wonderful sea view from the bay of Cannes, across the bay of La Napoule with a fantastic view of the Esterelles.
The two outside eating areas are comprised of one under the sun roof, the other by the barbeque area. And for those who enjoy a little light exercise prior to their eating or lounging, the private outdoor heated swimming pool awaits, with direct access offered from three of the four bedrooms.
While this luxurious and quiet retreat is within extremely easy reach of the party hot-spots of Cannes and Juan Les Pins (or you can take a helicopter from Palm Beach in Cannes and be in St Tropez in a few minutes), should you wish your indulgent stay to be more self-contained, the beautiful provençal kitchen and accompanying modern, self-contained kitchenette offer everything you need to enjoy preparing anything from simple canapés and cocktails on the patio, to a four-course meal for all guests in the dining room or under the beautifully lit sun roof. We can even recommend a local chef to cook a beautiful local meal for you – he’ll even clear up afterwards! There are two fridge freezers, a fridge, hob/stove and oven, microwave and, for cleaning up afterwards, a double sink, dish washer and in the separate utility room, a washing machine, tumble dryer and a steam iron. And there’s even WiFi and a telephone.
There are many shops nearby selling all manner of local produce, but for total convenience, a Carrefour mini-market is only a few minutes away. The famous Forville Market in Cannes is but half an hour by car, and needless to say, for those who like to eat out, there are so many restaurants to choose from. Décor throughout Villa La Lavande is bright and beautiful. Fully furnished throughout, with everything you could possibly need to ensure your home-from-home stay is perfect - sumptuous linen and towels, oversized John Lewis pillows and bedspreads, cutlery and crockery. It combines a serene old-world charm with total contemporary luxury and functionality. There’s plenty of parking, including a covered garage roomy enough for two large cars and extra parking on the property to accommodate two further vehicles. Wonderful location aside, there is plenty to do in and around Villa La Lavande. “In the middle of nowhere but the centre of everywhere”, was how one guest famously described the property. Aside from the proximity of the world-famous lavender fields in Grasse and restaurants in the ancient village of Mougins, olive groves and rows upon rows of ripening vines that are so typical of the Provençal countryside, there’s shopping, swimming, go-karting, sea sport activities, golf (only two minutes away!) and even skiing (sea in the Summer and snow in the winter – although it is possible to ski on the nearby French and Italian mountain slopes, only to return to après-ski in glorious, warm sunshine). And all only a couple of hours away. And if you want to be a little more laid back, there’s country walks, sightseeing or even people-watching over coffee in one of the many town squares all within easy reach. Accommodation Description

About the Owner We lived in the South of France (Cannes, Le Cannet, Super Cannes, Mougins and Chateauneuf) from 2002 to end 2011. We lived there with our four sons and during the Summer usually let our home to international clients. We have been known to Owner's Direct since 2003 and we are happy to provide references should you need one. It's always a nervous when you send your first deposit - so don't be afraid of asking for references! We know the area very well and can recommend chefs who will cook for you (and tidy up!). We will always recommend places to go where you won't get ripped off. We can tell you where not to go as well.
Why this location? As we said in the beginning about us - we lived in France for a long time and have had several properties. We did what most people do when they first arrive in France on the Cote, and that is live as close as possible to the Sea. As we slowly moved a little further back into nearly le L'arrière-Pays, you find peace and tranquillity. Not only can you enjoy the glamour of St Tropez, Monaco or Cannes, you are so close to the lavender fields, olive groves and rows of ripening vines in the Provençal countryside. You can simply people-watch over a strong coffee & croissant six minutes away in Valbonne in the quaint medieval market square with red mountains glinting in the sun... There is something for everybody down in our location, what could be more perfect? What are the unique benefits of the property? Incredibly well situated - don't under estimate the stress of getting to St Tropez in peak season - it can take 5 hours from Nice Airport and 5 Hours Back again! We are just 15 - 20 minutes away. Fancy driving up to Gourdon - another incredible medieval village - why not stop on the way and do a spot of Go-Karting with the kids - D3 toward Gourdon - Greolières - Caussols and it's just 2.5 Kms away! 10 - 15 minutes from the Villa. Or get yourself some perfume or eau de cologne from the Perfume factories in Grasse - 10 minutes away - my favourite is Sportissimo. Or drive over to Mougins (12 mins) and dine in the best restaurants in the area - our favourite is Le Bistro - ask for Alan (he's the owner and been there 25 years+, or Delphine. Nip down to the Forville Market in Cannes. |
